Celebrating the New Year with Fido!

With the new year just around the corner, you may be wondering how to best ring in 2023 with your pup. After all, our furry friends are part of the family, and what better way to celebrate than by spending quality time together? Read on for some fun ideas that will make this New Year’s Eve one your doggo won’t forget!

Take a Hike

If you don’t want to stay up late or worry about fireworks scaring your pooch, take a hike before sundown. This is a great way to get some fresh air and exercise while taking in the beauty of nature with your four-legged pal. Plus, it gives both of you something to look forward to when the clock strikes midnight—a good night’s sleep!

Go for a Car Ride

If going for a long walk sounds too tiring for either of you, why not go for a car ride? Roll down the windows and let Fido stick his head out (weather permitting). He'll love feeling the wind in his fur! And if you have time to spare, why not treat him (and yourself) to an ice cream cone or two?

Have a Movie Night

Cuddle up on the couch with your pup and watch some festive flicks like “The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation” or “Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3: Viva La Fiesta!" She'll love snuggling up next to you while she watches her favorite doggy stars on screen. Don't forget snacks — human AND canine friendly ones!

Here is a list of some other ways to celebrate with your pet:

1. Have a picnic in the park or (family room)

2. Go for a long walk

3. Visit a dog-friendly bar or restaurant

4. Go to the beach

5. Go camping

6.  Go to a dog park

7.Go to a dog-friendly movie theater

8. Have a doggy play date

9.  Make homemade dog treats

No matter how you decide to celebrate New Year's Eve with your pup, make sure it's something special that both of you can enjoy together. Remember that dogs respond differently in different situations so keep an eye out for signs of stress or anxiety.

Most importantly, have fun and cherish these moments so that when 2023 comes around, you'll be ready to start it off right — together. Happy New Year!
